Weighing in at just 2.6 lbs, MSI designed the Wind to be lightweight and ultra mobile, without sacrificing convenience or performance. The Wind features an ergonomically designed keyboard that is only 20% smaller than of a full sized keyboard, with keys spaced a comfortable 0.68 inches apart. The Windows version of the Wind features an 80G / 2.5" SATA hard drive, which further sets it apart from other ultra portable notebooks, whose manufacturers have compromised memory capacity to save space. The Winds display features embedded LED power-saving backlight technology, which provides superior color quality and brightness. This innovative notebook also comes standard with a 1.3M webcam, Bluetooth capabilities, 3 USB ports and a 4-in-1 card reader.

What Customers Say About MSI Wind 10" Mini Laptop (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 3 Cell Battery) Black:

It was WELL worth it and makes traveling so much more pleasant. I got the MSI and I love it. The performance is great and the keyboard is actually usable, unlike the same size Acer laptops I looked at. I'd been looking at mini laptops for months and had been hedging because I already have a full size laptop and it seemed too decadent to have two. But I travel a lot and my Sony was a pain to lug around.
It had a CD with the manual on it for every language but English. It is a very attractive mini laptop. Most hotels today have wireless internet connectivity. After trying IE and Firefox and several conversations with my internet provider and router vendor over a four hour period I gave up and returned the unit. It came with Windows XP which worked extremely fast, even faster than my other three computers with XP. I read excellent reviews of it in the Computer Shopper. It did connect to the web when connected directly to the router but that is not how I intended to use it. Fn 2 thru Fn 11 to turn everything on.
It came with just a Fast Start page which was nothing more than an explanation of what the buttons were. I bought the MSI Wind mini 100U with a 3 cell battery for $309 on the net. I never did get it to connect to the internet. Perhaps it was defective. It is a wireless N modem supposedly backwardly compatible with G series routers.
Nowhere was this explained. If only it worked. [ASIN:B001BIK9H4 MSI Wind 10" Mini Laptop 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 3 Cell Battery) Black]] It is a quick well designed unit I liked very much. I spent over eight hours trying to get it to connect to my wireless router. Perhaps other units would work fine. When I received it I was quite impressed.
MSI has no weekend support hours. So if you buy it, save yourself some time by pushing the series of buttons e.g. My motivation to buy this was for traveling since it is so light at 2.8 pounds. Now for the downside. After four hours I read other reviews of the machine and found that the wireless modem was turned off when shipped and you had to push the buttons they show you on the fast start sheet to turn on all of its features.
Only drawback is this model comes with a 3 cell batter, upgrade to that and everything is fixed. MSI wind is amazing, light, easy to carry around and good battery life.
I ended up buying an ASUS 1000H which had wireless N, larger battery, and $100 less than an equivalent Wind with 6 cell battery.Neither one is 100% perfect, but I am happy I switched. I liked the size and look of the netbook. Unfortunately my screen was defective and I had to return it.
The reason why I had to call them was because the battery went kaput not even a week of owning it. They absolutely go ballistic. You can follow every key prompt and still someone has to transfer you when you finally reach an operator. Whats on the bad side of this laptop is the customer service.
This is the best netbook on the market right now it has the perfect size and specifications. Now this might be just my case but I have never had anything go out that quick before. Thats after waiting for 30 min also. When I tell people about it the first thing they say is what is MSI.
They have a terrible phone system. I am still waiting for the laptop battery now. So I tell them who they are, and they are not pleased until i show them. The size and cute factor is what reels people in.
